  1. a. (n.) Any drink machine that dispenses the soda before the cup.

27. revertebrate (rē-vûr'tə-brĭt')

  1. a. (n.) A creature that has evolved a vertebrae, then evolved into something without a vertebrae, and finally back once more.

28. riceburner (rīs-bûrn'ər)

  1. a. (n.) Cars that are made to appear fast but are actually slow. Often describing small foreign cars that people have spruced up in an effort to be laughed at by everyone they pass on the main streets of cities.
  2. b. (n.) A vehicle, often a motorcycle, manufactured in Asia. These vehicles are often misrepresented as inferior or underpowered, but in reality often have great performance and quality — especially motorcycles. Not always the case in sedans, as many owners don't actually know how to boost their horsepower.

29. riceroach (rīs'rōch)

  1. a. (n.) The burnt krispie in every bowl of Rice Krispies.
  2. b. (n.) Any grain of rice in a package of rice that still has its husk.

30. rignition (rĭg-nĭsh'ən)

  1. a. (n.) The embarrassing action of trying to start one's car with the engine already running.

31. rippleshot (rĭp'əl-shŏt)

  1. a. (n.) The ripple marks left on one's skin, usually the face, after waking up from sleeping on wrinkled sheets or pillowcase. Can also come from sleeping on one's watch or anything else that will leave an imprint.

    Example: You have rippleshot all over your arms and face. Perhaps you should remake your bed.

32. rizzle (rĭz'əl)

  1. a. (adj.) Real; true; no kidding.

    Example: That rhyme is fo' rizzle!

33. Rockter scale, The (rŏk'tər skāl)

  1. a. (n.) A scale from 1 to 10 measuring the seismic force of a particular gig. 10 on the Rockter scale would be a gig that caused localised geological upheaval. 1 would be Culture Club.

    Example: The We Are Scientists gig on Saturday was definitely an 8 on the Rockter scale.

34. rocktopus (rŏk'tə-pəs)

  1. a. (n.) A celebrity musician who believes that he may, by dint of his fame and social standing, grope one's girlfriend when he meet them in a club.

35. Roger Nelson (rŏj'ər nĕl'sən)

  1. a. (n.) The artist formerly known as 'Prince'.

36. rokblok (rŏk-blŏk)

  1. a. (n.) Deflection off a small rock or pebble on a baseball field thereby changing the direction of the baseball.

37. Roman noodles (rō'mən nüd'ls)

  1. a. (n.) A noodle dish originating from Rome. More commonly known as spaghetti, ziti, manicotti, and penne among others.

38. Ronnie (rŏ-nē)

  1. a. (n.) While exiting a canoe, when one foot is on the land or dock and the other leg is in the canoe, and both surfaces spread away from each other resulting in the person falling into the water.

    Example: My uncle pulled a Ronnie last week.

39. rotatemate (rŏ'tāt-māt)

  1. a. (n.) The round swiveling tray used for storing household food items, often in holding condiments on your table. Another term for a Lazy Susan.

40. rubbage (rŭb'ĭj)

  1. a. (n.) Large pieces of truck tire found on the side of the road.
  2. b. (n.) An act of vigorously rubbing a dog's belly while speaking to the dog in baby-talk.

41. runawaykey (rŭn-ə'wā-kē)

  1. a. (n.) Situation where one wakes up late in the morning, realizes they have misplaced their keys and is late to work. Often occurring on Mondays.
