Origins: Part of a Mars, Inc., Snickers® candy bar advertising campaign started back in summer 2006 using made up words displayed in the likes of the Snickers® logo in an attempt to influence sales by incorporating the product further into mainstream vocabulary. The combination of peanut and metropolis.
Example: At first I thought I accidentally bought a generic Snickers® bar called the Peanutopolis until turned it right side up.
