Definition of aeromortiphobia :.

(âr'ə-môr'tə-fō'bē-ə)

  1. 1. (v.) The fear of death while traveling by aircraft.

Origins: From Greek aero-, the air, and Latin, mortālis, death, and Greek -phobia, fear. In pure Greek, this can also be referred to as aerothanatophobia, thanato- being the Greek term for death.

Example: The innocent victims on the two airplanes that crashed into the Twin Towers may have experienced momentary aeromortiphobia when they realized they were in fact, mortal creatures.
