Definition of backronym :.
(băk'rə-nĭm')
1. (n.) An acronym that was clearly thought of first, and the (usually dull minded) phrase was secondarily crafted to fit it.
Example: Determined Involved Supermodels Helping to End Suffering: DISHES!
Notes: The word Backronym in no way connotes that the cause of the acronym is trivial, but merely serves to point out that the initials came before the phrase.
