Definition of hob-cob :.
(hŏb cŏb)
1. (v.) To put something together in such a fashion that it will suffice, but will never pass for any manner of skill.
Origins: From hob, meaning a tool for cutting the teeth of gears, and the Middle English coblen, meaning to mend or patch coarsely, as in cobbler, one who mends or makes.
Example: I helped him hob-cob his glasses back together with tape and wire; it wasn't pretty, but it'll hold up til he can get a new pair.
